This community event is a unique opportunity for our citizens with disabilities (regardless of age or type of disability), their families, and the general public, to gather together for an afternoon of free food, activities, live entertainment, and information on local disability related services and support. Lunch and Learn Seminar
Each summer we select a subject for discussion as related to people with disabilities and assemble a panel of subject matter experts to lead the discussions. Past subjects include assistive technology, employment, accessibility, recreation and tourism, resources for parents of children with disabilities, disability etiquette, resources for mental illness, independent living resources, ADA awareness, and Social Security and disabilities, aging and disability resources, and emergency and disaster planning for people with disabilities. We will address resources for mental illness on Tuesday, July 24, 2018, 11:30 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. at the GA Department of Labor, 2517 Tara Ln., Brunswick, GA. Employer of the Year Award
Each year in October in conjunction with National Disability Employment Awareness Month, the Council awards a local business or organization for their notable efforts to recruit, hire, train and retain employees with disabilities. Our 2017 award recipient is McDonald's on St. Simons Island. We thank them for their diligence and success in employing people with disabilities.
